Situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Serra de Sintra, Cascais has always been an important tourist center, having received during and after World War II a large number of illustrious refugees and exiles, among which the Counts of Barcelona, the King Humberto II of Italy, Carol II of Romania and numerous figures of the sporting and cultural panorama.

From its inviting beaches to water sports, its rich historical / cultural heritage, the majestic landscape of the natural park Sintra - Cascais, to lively evenings, there are many options and opportunities for fun and leisure in the municipality of Cascais.

Cascais has about 15 km of stretch of beaches, which start at the busy Carcavelos Beach, where the Tagus estuary ends, passing by the Parede beach, known for the therapeutic effects of its iodine-rich waters. Impossible would be to overlook the cosmopolitan Estoril area, where the Tamariz beach stands, nestled in the cliffs of the Alameda do Casino, lined with magnificent Palacetes.

The best way to enjoy the beauty of Cascais is by taking a walk along the "Paredão", a pedestrian walk of about 3 km, between São João do Estoril and Cascais.

On Wednesdays and Saturdays, in the space of the Cascais Market, a saloio market takes place where the traditional forms of the product show intersect with the new forms of consumption.

The center of Cascais is an old and picturesque fishing village, with small urban beaches where you can see the fishing boats.
